Quick Definition:
Agile Coaching is the practice of helping individuals, teams, and organizations adopt and improve their Agile mindset and practices to deliver more value to customers.
The 4 Stances of an Agile Coach
An effective Agile coach knows when to switch between these four stances:
- Coaching: Helping the team find their own solutions through powerful questioning.
- Mentoring: Sharing your own experience and knowledge to guide the team.
- Teaching: Formally educating the team on Agile principles and frameworks.
- Facilitating: Helping the team have productive conversations and reach consensus.
Powerful Questioning
Instead of giving answers, ask open-ended questions like “What would happen if…?” or “What are we trying to achieve here?” to encourage critical thinking.
